First Generation

Founded in 1986 by Enda Smith, AKTA started as a small store in the Black Pitts of Dublin and has grown into a leading hygiene supplier for major operators around the country. With experience in B2B sales in the hygiene sector, Enda saw an opportunity to start a business with a belief that every operator deserves a cleaning supplier who knows their business, delivers on time, and charges a fair price.

Together with his wife Peggy, Enda built AKTA from the ground up, laying the foundations of a successful and growing business.  Enda sadly passed away in 2023. He is deeply missed, but his legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, carrying the business forward today.

Third Generation

Andrew's children have recently joined the family business. Ailbhe, a graduate of DCU Business School, has stepped in as marketing director, modernising how AKTA tells its story and reaches new customers without losing what makes the business what it is. 

Her brother Cian has joined the operations team, managing inventory and delivering to the customers that AKTA has built its reputation on. 

Second Generation

Enda's eldest son, Andrew, now leads AKTA as Managing Director, with his younger brother Philip alongside him as Director.  Together, they have carried the business through recessions, warehouse expansions, and a global pandemic. Their commitment to looking after customers is what has helped the company grow to where it is today.
